Once the account is up and running, you must fund it before you can use it for any money transfer purposes; this is a prepaid money wallet. You can add money through three channels – IMPS, Debit Card or Net Banking.

Once you have funded your State Bank Buddy wallet you should then follow this procedure:

  1. Select the recipient of the funds from our mobile phone contact list or from your Facebook account.
  2. Enter the amount of money that you want to send; the limit per transaction is Rs. 2,000
  3. Enter the purpose or description for the transaction and then submit the money for sending

Sending money to registered customers (these are the ones who have State Bank Buddy wallets) is straightforward and easy. You simply type in their name and the send the desired amount of money; you will not be required to provide any other authorization.

Sending money to people who are not registered customers will require a second level of authorization. First select the number from your mobile phone contact list or Facebook account; you can also send it directly if you have the number and it is not in your contact list or Facebook account.

Once you have entered the amount of money to send, you will receive a PASSCODE, and you will have to send this code to the recipient, so he or she can get the money; without it, the money will remain in escrow. If the recipient has not collected the money after five days, the funds will be sent back to your State Bank Buddy Wallet, and you will be notified that the money is back.
