As mentioned above, the main objective of this initiative is to digitalize everything and to stop fraudulent activities. Pan card application is an easy process and there are lot of loopholes in the system which anyone can use to avail a Pan card with fake information. Also, there is a great chance of people with duplicate Pan cards too.
Wherein Aadhaar Card application process is a lot stringent one and it is highly impossible for users to have a fake or duplicate Aadhaar card. So this initiative of linking Aadhaar card with Pan card will help Government in identifying those fake Pan card users. Also after the completion of this process all those fake Pan cards will be of no use. This initiative was must for an orderly society and also to keep pace with the improving technology.
Key Benefits of Linking Aadhaar Card with Pan
Blocking Duplicate Pan Cards: By linking Pan Card to Aadhaar Card, duplicate Pan Cards will be identified and blocked. So users with duplicate pan cards won’t be able to use their duplicate pan card anymore.
Tracing Money Laundering: Most of the money laundering activities are done through duplicate pan cards and by blocking it; Government will be able to easily trace such activities.
Tax Evasion: This will also help Government to track transactions which are taxable.

How to Link Your Aadhaar Card with PAN Card?
Here is a step by step guide to link your Aadhaar card to your Pan:-
Step 1: Visit Income Tax India eFiling Portal and login using your credentials. If you are a new user then “Register” and then login to the portal.
Step 2: Click on “Profile Settings” option in “Dashboard” and then click on “Link Aadhaar”
Step 3: Fill in the form by putting in your Pan Number, Aadhaar Number, Name as per Aadhaar and Captcha. Then click on Link Aadhaar.
Note: You can also directly go to “Link Aadhaar” option by clicking on “Link Aadhaar” option in the left panel under “Services” section of the home page.
Also if your name in Aadhaar Card and Pan Card is different and you would like to retain the name in “Aadhaar Card” then you just need to put in your name as per your “Aadhaar Card”; however if you like to use your name in Pan Card then you might have to change your name in “Aadhaar Card” as per Pan Card. Verify Whether Aadhaar Card is Linked to Pan Card
It is easy as the process is the same; you will just need to login to the eFiling Portal and click on “Link Aadhaar” and if your “Aadhaar Card” is already linked… It will show a notification stating that the Aadhaar is already linked. If it doesn’t show up then you will have to redo the entire process again.
